Surf Line '09 Fall

Formerly called "Cast of Characters" pages; the Surf Line pages are perhaps our most popular pages.  Every surfer likes to see pictures of themselves and their buddies in the water.  The newest photos are always at the top; the older ones move down the page.  These are the surfers who were riding the waves of the Riviera during Fall of 2009.

McBraveheart just recently traded-in her boogie board for a long board.  On the day this photo was taken; for the first time Mc B was catching, standing, turning and riding waves all the way to the sand.  Her friends who were out in the water with her were just as excited as she was...

Cover girl Sheri, you rip...  Photo by George.

Adele paddled out with Sheri this day, we think they were having a contest to see who could keep their hair dry the longest...  Photo by George.

Carlos is always smiling and ripping...  Photo by George.

Danny making a fast bottom turn before trimming down the line...  Photo by George.

George dropping-in and looking good...  A big thanks to George for shooting a bunch of pictures for the Dec. 1, 2009 update; the least we could do was to shoot one of him.

Big or small, Gidget always makes every wave ride look easy and graceful...  Photo by George.

Our photog loves it when someone else is taking the pictures...  Photo by George.

"Sam the Dolphin Man"  Sam is famous for his "dolphin" style of body surfing inside a wave instead of on the face.  We have been trying to capture him in action for a long time.  We finally got him...

Chad with a full five toes over the nose, sweet...

The big, thick, juicy power of winter waves at Torrance Beach...

Big Drop John is on top of the world here...

One day you are on top of the world; the next day you are busted...

What a drop!  Screaming across a wave face at warp speed destined for the green room...

This wave warrior was charging hard until he was reminded just how heavy those big waves are...

Hard to believe this rider is 6 foot tall; that is a huge wave face...

Most of the gang were in the water Saturday, November 7th as the big swell started to build.  The conditions were clean and the waves were make-able...

What a difference a day makes.  November 7th Greg was ripping; November 8th his board got ripped...

November 14th saw sanity on the beach again as Carlos and others were sliding clean 1-3' wind swells in front of TORR...

Kevin on his hand made wooden body board charges hard out of this angry barrel...

This unknown rider was getting a tour of the "green room" in front of the TORR tower...

Greg can make any wave look great...

October had pretty nice weather overall but we did have some foggy mornings.  Fog tends to make surfing interesting at times when you can't see the waves coming...

Victor has a way of finding his way into tubes, wave after wave.  Here Victor is watching the lip intently while dragging a hand to scrub speed and manuver into that magical green room.  Thank-you to Gidget for the photo...

Carlos drawing a beautiful line on a nice left slide.  Thank-you to Jana for the photo...

Greg can be found on a boogie board or surfboard and rides either of them extremely well...

Like a warrior emerging victorious, Kevin climbs the ramp after a great morning session.  Kevin builds these beautiful wood boards himself, stop and ask him about them if you see him on the beach...

Someone once painted on the wall at Malibu: "Longboarders, you stand but you don't surf".  We think standing or even posing can be pretty cool, especially when doing a Soul Arch...

McBraveheart rips an inside section while pointing the way...

Glassy 2-3' waves, off-shore wind and a brand new 9'6" board to ride, it gets no better...

This young charger is in top form here making some long fast rides on his Alea.  These wood plank boards can be really tough to ride but this surfer makes it look easy...

Analisa is stoked with her new 9'02"; it paddles like a rocket and she was up on her very first wave...

Tara showing top-form dropping-in on a nice glassy shoulder...

Marisa enjoying hot glassy conditions during the last weeks of September...

George makes a nice bottom turn and lines up for a long ride...

Dennis with "toes on the nose" as usual; you RIP Dennis!

What could be better than surfing with your friends on a hot glassy day?  Why surfing on a brand new board of course.  Right-on, Maggie...

Rob, in the power-zone as usual.  Right-on Rob...

Christian is always graceful and always on a wave...

Rocky can't believe he is riding this crystal blue beautiful wave right here in front of the TORR tower...

Danny was all over the great waves we had this day; styling on every one...

Tiffany makes a great take-off and bottom turn before charging down the line...

The Professor is always focused and in control...

Veith makes a nice back-side cut-out after a long fast ride...

Mike charges hard down the line.  Mike is one of our beach Los Angeles County Lifeguard Beach Captains this year.  We love our Lifeguards and love having them in the water with us...

Victor just had a way of finding his way into barrels wave after wave this day.  Right-on, Victor...

Steve taking a bead on a nice down the line drive...

John puts a hand out as if to commune with this beautiful inside peeler.  Nice wave, John...

Steve, you rip!

The line-up; Rocky, Greg & Steve; waiting for that next big set outside...
