Halloween 2011

This was our third year of surfing in costume on Halloween.  Totally unorganized and all for fun; we had folks of all ages and everyone had a blast.

A special thank-you goes out to photographers John Eckmier, Jana Wallace, Randy Ruby, David Benetiz and Eric for so generously taking photos and sharing them with us.  The Aloha just keeps going around and around...

"A hunk a hunk of burning love"!With "A hunk a hunk of burning love" playing on the boom box; Elvis sashayed onto the beach and into every girl's heart...  Jana Wallace photo

"Bzzzzz"Emma the Bee and Marshall the Sunflower...  Jana Wallace photo

"Are you pinching me"?Bob Marley would approve...  Jana Wallace photo

"Are you REALLY my dad"?Reggae was well represented at the Halloween surf...  Jana Wallace photo

"HEY, HEY, no peeking"!!!!Adam and Eve making final adjusments before hopping on their boards.  Adam says "no peeking"!  Jana Wallace photo

"Oh what is a Sea Nymph to do"?Darth Kahuna, Johnny Eckmier as a photographer and the Sea Nymph...  Jana Wallace photo

"Oh, ouch, I think I pulled something"!!Wonder Woman soaring up, up and away.  We guess she really does fly...  Jana Wallace photo

"I'll need to wash my hair tonight"There was no shortage of color or costumes in the water...  Jana Wallace photo

"I can't see where I'm going but I'm standing"!Darth Kahuna growling through an inside section...  Jana Wallace photo

"Taking care of business, baby"!Elvis doing what he does best, looking good...  Jana Wallace photo

"Look ma, one foot"!The Sunflower, in control and looking good...  Jana Wallace photo

"I kinda like this skirt"Priscilla was everywhere during the Halloween surf; but she was mostly on every wave looking good...  Jana Wallace photo

"Stand, turn, trim, don't fall down"!Even a Sea Nymph has to concentrate sometimes; like when she's riding the curl...  Jana Wallace photo

"You dare drop in on Wonder Woman"?Troy Donahue takes a big chance incurring the wrath of Wonder Woman...  Jana Wallace photo

"Ring around the rosie, pocket full posies"There is something about the Greatest Generation, they do know how to have fun...  Jana Wallace photo

My favorite placeWonderous Wonder Woman trimmed with her cape flying...  Jana Wallace photo

"You may proceed"The Green Sea Fairy directed traffic for goblins and ghosts getting in and out of the water...  Jana Wallace photo

This one's for you, Dewey!!Darth Kahuna with a nice drop knee turn...  Jana Wallace photo

Wahoo!"Kids, don't try this at home".  Marshall the Sunflower getting everything out of his wave until he finally ran out of water...  Jana Wallace photo

Bye bye...Lifeguard Greg took good care of us all morning and the Green Sea Fairy looked after Greg...  Jana Wallace photo

"T.C.B." or taking care of business as Elvis used to say.  Carlos was an awesome Elvis on and off the beach...  Randy Ruby photo

"Would you like a sweet cupcake little girl"?  The Sea Nymph here in search of adventure with a Salty Old Pirate...

Was it Troy Donahue reincarnated or our good friend Mike?  Only his hairdresser knows for sure...

Rumor has it that Mike kept the wig on for the entire weekend...

Nurse Sponge Betty is ready to take good care of Elvis...

Sponge Betty soon realized that Darth Kahuna was beyond any help she could offer with her sponge...

Analisa looking intently towards the shore: "Now where did that sunflower go"?

Elvis finally found his Priscilla...  Photo by Eric

After several great rides and only a few hairs out of place; Elvis would be proud...

The King in action...  Photo by Eric

Elvis and Darth Kahuna trying to convince Jana that the only way to calm her fears of things that scare her is to embrace them...

Jim Carey would be proud of Bredesen ripping as "The Mask"...

Yup, safe to say, The Mask was stoked...

While Adam of Adam and Eve watches for a wave, Wonder Woman rides one...

Christian figured out quickly that seaweed would have worked much better for Adam than a fig leaf...

...and where is that seaweed when we need it?  Photo by Eric

"Thy sea is so great and our haircuts so diverse..."

President Bill "Chuck" Clinton reporting for morning session...

Despite losing face on the take-off, President Clinton made up for it with his surfing finesse...

Priscilla "Dano" Presley walking the beach in search of her Elvis...

Priscilla was happiest in the water with the rest of the girls...

Elvis was most happy in the water with the girls, too...

Honey Bee Emma and Sunflower Marshall...

Honey Bee Emma gets some last minute prep from mom before hitting the waves...

Emma was smiling the entire morning...

Steve and his daughter Emma take time to say "hi" and "bzzz"...

Jen and Ron came as Gym Rats and definitely brought their smiles...

"Rasta John" was a hoot the entire morning...  Photo by Eric

With an NBA lockout still in effect; Justin felt safe in his Celtics outfit on an L.A. beach...

Darth Kahuna summons a wave to ride...  Photo by Eric

We didn't know what was scarier, riding with masks on or riding into inches of water (or both) to get the shot...   Photo by Randy Ruby

"Excuse me, do you have a breath mint"

The Sea Nyph and Nurse Sponge Betty.  Smiles like these cannot be bought...

Marshall the Sunflower was all smiles himself...

There is no better place for a Sunflower than in the sun on a beautiful morning...

Mary often surfs with us but on this day she was competing in a costumed surf contest at Santa Monica Beach.  We think she has winning form.  Thank-you for sharing your photo, Mary.  Photo by Ken Samuels

Wonder Woman on a great wave with a slight wardrobe malfunction.  Even Wonder Woman is sometimes challenged in keeping her top up and her dress down...

Wonder Woman with her son Rasta Matthew...

Nobody watched for waves more intently than Rasta Matthew...

Great people, great weather, great times.  Halloween 2011 at Torrance Beach, CA with the Riviera Wave Riders...
