Surf Line '11 Spring

The Surf Line pages are perhaps our most popular pages.  Every surfer likes to see pictures of themselves and their buddies in the water.  The newest photos are always at the top; the older ones move down the page.  These are the surfers who were riding the waves of the Riviera during the Spring of 2011...

Spring time at the beach; one picture is worth a thousand words...

RAT beach was looking good during the first weeks of June; here's Rudy making a nice left shoulder in front of the swim club...

Hollywood Steve is one of the most "Regal" riders in the line-up...

Hollywood Steve with a nice drop-knee turn while going backside...

Whether just beginning or a seasoned veteran; the awesome stoke of surfing feels the same for all of us...

74 years old and charging, right-on Alex...

With classic style, Danny is cross-stepping his way to the nose.  Right-on, Danny...

One minute he is cross-stepping to the nose and the next minute he is 'smacking the lip.  Danny does it all...

Native son Gary was in town long enough to come to the beach and let all his friends know that he still rips.  Right-on, Gary...

Big John on some clean Spring surf...

It's always good to remember that if there is sand in the face of the wave there probably isn't too much water below you...

Carlos on the charge...

Anyone who has taken pictures of surfers knows this look:  "Did you get me, did you get me"????  We got you Carlos, you rip...

Christain making the drop and turn on a beefy Spring wave...

Because of the soft focus we wouldn't normally have included this photo except for the fact that this rider is covered-up right in front of the TORR tower.  Beach- break surfing at it's best...

Bill up and doing what he does best, charging...  Randy Ruby photo.

Great form and great contrasts of a white wave and black wetsuit...  Randy Ruby photo.

It doesn't get much prettier than this...  Randy Ruby photo.

This rider is all concentration and ripping while looking down the line...  Randy Ruby photo.

Steve making a nice landing after another 'off the lip manuver...  Randy Ruby photo.

Time after time this surfer was in the hot curl...  Randy Ruby photo.

We love this photo, all action...  Randy Ruby photo.

Trimmed for speed, surfing with style...  Randy Ruby photo.

...and yes, he made the drop...  Randy Ruby photo.

In the hot-curl, Gidget in perfect position and trim...  Randy Ruby photo.

With pro surf photographer Randy Ruby on the beach this morning; everyone was turning on for his camera; even our own photographer...

Steve makes the drop on a beautiful wave in front of TORR tower...  Randy Ruby photo.

This Randy Ruby photo is all action; you can look at the photo and feel the speed...

Mc B beautifully captured by Randy Ruby...

We never realize how much we are concentrating until mom sees the photos and asks "why didn't you smile for the camera, honey"? Randy Ruby photo.

Randy on a speed-burn to make a section...  Randy Ruby photo.

How does a Gidget handle 9'6" of surfboard in a fast, powerful shorebreak?  We say very gracefully...  Randy Ruby photo.

One of the secrets to getting your photo taken is strike a pose and hold it as long as you can.  Surfing right-at the photographer helps, too... Randy Ruby photo.

Steve ripping in the power zone...  Randy Ruby photo.

On this morning the wave period was only 8 seconds, on some waves it seemed as though you could almost catch the one in front of you...  Randy Ruby photo.

'Just a little quality nose time...  Randy Ruby photo.

SurfLine had predicted TORR as "flat" on this morning.  In this photo, Mary is thinking it's anything but flat while paddling-out.  That's the beauty in just showing-up at the beach, you never know...

Ken Samuels came with Mary and was really cool to bring his camera and later share photos with all of us...

Mary riding goofy foot grabs a rail going backside while Ken captures the action...

Mary showing style and poise on her new Cooperfish...  Ken Samuels photo.

BBAM braces for the impact of the white water chasing her from behind...  Ken Samuels photo.

Mc B riding a nice left peak on the South side of TORR tower...  Ken Samuels photo.

The recent morning low tides didn't slow Carlos down; here he is charging a sand-filled wave over a super shallow sandbar...

Hollywood Steve, aka: Stylin' Steve...

...and John just couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting anywhere...

This is what the Riviera Wave Riders is all about; sharing waves, sharing Aloha, sharing good times...

Jimmy trimmed and looking great...

Chad surfs as well backwards as he does forwards...

When you're 6'6" and the waves are 2'6" you do what you need to do to get inside the tube like Chad here...

Victor can be counted on to rip all the way to the sand on every wave...
